Not sure what’s different from the Avid version (which I also really like) but this Nembrini version is tighter, more solid in the mids and lows. Reminds me of the original SansAmp ‘Classic' guitar pedal. And a phase switch!

I collect a bunch of distortion plugins but this one really speaks to me. Trashy mids that are easy to sculpt. Sound fantastic in conjunction with verbs or delays on return channels as well.

Desert-island plug!

Sounds great on guitars and bass, as expected (especially ones with a pretty clean source, so you can really push it within the plugin)...but really, this plugin has become absolutely invaluable and irreplaceable to me for all it's NON-gtr/bass usage. If I have an acoustic instrument or some mid-to-high perc that I want more exciting, saturated, crunchy, and/or stereo imaged, this ALWAYS does the trick. Big fan of pulling up an aggressive preset, and then dialing in the wet/dry knob to taste.

Finally a modern update!

I’ve been using the Bomb Factory PSA as a go to in almost all my sessions over the years. But it was getting long in the tooth and was Pro Tools exclusive. These a lot in and fit the bill perfectly. Someday I may even take advantage of the extra features. Only minor gripe is lack of over sampling. That would have been the cherry on the icing of the cake that is this treat.
