Since the 90s it defined the sound of modern rock and metal

Cali Dual Three Channels Guitar Amplifier 100 watt head can be driven from the most pristine clean sounds to an incredible crushing wall of gain. It is modeled on a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier*.

Three completely independent channels with separate controls for gain, tone, presence and volume.

Three completely independent channels with separate controls for gain, tone, presence and volume.

  • Channel 1 with two voicing modes: Clean for tight and sparkling clear tones and Pushed for spicy mid-gain flavour.
  • Channels 2/3 with three voicing modes: Classics recto mode: Raw for crunch and blues tones, Vintage for liquid and warmth high-gain sounds and Modern for heaviest and super aggressive sounds.

Two different power selections in the Cali Dual Three Channel Guitar Amplifier are equally important when looking for a particular sound.

  • Spongy works like a built-in Variac, reducing all the internal voltages for a true vintage feeling and that extraordinary "brown sound." internal voltage is reduced, making it easier to achieve an overdriven power sound, especially when the Rectifier Mode switch is in the Tube position.
  • Bold position, maximum power, clean headroom.
CABINETS

With Cali Dual Three Channels Guitar Amplifier is possible to choose between six different guitar cabinets, four microphone emulations with on/off axis position switch, continuous position and distance knobs.

I never really have been a fan of Mesa Boogie amps nor of Rectifiers, it just is not "my sound", nevertheless I bought this plugin after some testing and although I already owned one or two good sounding Rectifier plugins, mainly because of one reason: The Pushed voicing of the Clean Channel can - if properly adjusted - very much sound and react like a good Plexi and is also better adjustable.

But these tones I up to now only got out of the Cali Dual plugin, other Rectifier simulations sounded smoother, less aggressive, reacted less dynamical in comparison, from them I - in the best case - only got some sort of Tweed amp tones out of the Pushed voicing.

At this time the MRH159 did not exist, which of course does this job even better and more authentically, but nevertheless the Cali Dual still is a nice variation on the theme. Of course the other channels and voicing also sound excellent, if you're looking for convincing Rectifier tones.
